Sacraments

Christ Sun of Justice, as a “personal parish,” exists to serve a particular group of persons: the students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of RPI (Canon 518). We provide the pastoral care and sacraments expected of Catholic parishes.

  • Baptism: We are delighted to baptize infants and children. Except in emergencies, parents and godparents will need to meet with the chaplain to prepare for baptisms. Adults who are interested in being baptized or joining the Catholic church from another Christian tradition should speak to the chaplain regarding the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
  • Reconciliation/Confession: Confession is available on Saturdays 3:30-4:30 and by appointment.
  • Eucharist: Parents preparing their children for First Holy Communion should contact the chaplain to discuss the process and scheduling.
  • Confirmation: Parents preparing their children for Confirmation should contact the chaplain to discuss the process and scheduling.
  • Anointing of the Sick: Anyone with either chronic or acute illness can be anointed. When possible, please contact the chaplain prior to major surgery or hospitalization. In emergencies, anointing can be arranged through the hospital chaplains office.
  • Marriage: Ordinarily preparation for a Catholic wedding will take at least six months. Please speak with the chaplain to discuss your circumstances before booking any venues or making any concrete plans.
  • Holy Orders: If you would like to discuss the possibility of priesthood or religious life, please contact Fr. Larry, who has experience as a director of vocations, for help with your discernment.
